The lake has always brought us joy through the years. It’s a magical place where it’s beauty has brought an ever-changing surprise for the senses. Filled with a cool breeze in the early afternoon with the sun shimmering on the waves that were marching from one end of the lake to the other in what seemed an endless task of creating the music of the day. We rode our bikes for the first time this spring. We found our favorite bench and sat for a spell to soak in the majesty of Lodi Lake.
In the wilderness area it’s not unusual to hear the playful squirrels jumping from tree to tree or the sound they make running across the dried leaves that blanket the ground. Their fear subsided by the many local admires that visit along the dirt path everyday. They watch us walking by with as much curiosity for us as we have of them.
Spring is an amazing time to see the wild berries just coming back to life. The different shades of green from the trees to the shrubbery along the Mokelume River that serve as a backdrop to the deer so skillfully camouflaged among the foliage. Our deer are like old friends that come back year after year to greet us. Sometimes with new friends to meet as their young fawn move blissfully with ease through the wilderness.
The seasons of our life come and go, ever changing like the river that reshapes the banks and through the different twists and turns forges a new path for the beginning of a new year. Just like life. The love of my life seems to blend in with the majestic scenery captured by the lens.
Our love for each other is much like our love of the lake. Some things just become more beautiful and appreciative as the seasons of life change.
